The faculty was founded in 1987 as a response to global trends in high-tech industries. The faculty has focused not only on preparing diverse professionals, but also on those who can effectively solve the problems of complex automation of research and design work, production, and after-sales support of complex technical systems. At the present stage, in a competitive environment, these tasks become only more urgent.
Preparing students involves understanding the fundamental mathematical and general technical framework, a deep mastery of computer technology and design skills, the ability to build a mathematical model, the knowledge of modern technologies and materials, and understanding the life-cycle of a product
and its tasks through automation.
The Faculty of Robotics and Complex Automation Student teams, working on creating their own automated systems, demonstrate significant results at international conferences and events (such as Eurobot). Some of them move their projects on to the status of start-ups and small innovative enterprises
Fields of research include: computer aided design and manufacturing, robotic systems for different purposes, industrial and warehouse logistics, multi-dimensional mathematical modeling, and knowledge-based software.
