New Year’s greetings to the rector of BMSTU

The year 2020 is coming – the year of the 190th anniversary of the University, the 100th anniversary of our union of workers, the 75th anniversary of Victory. This year, this is a beautiful number we meet with good results. In the framework of the national projects “Science”, “Education” and “Digital Economy” carried out by MSTU, we are developing our Digital University – distance learning, the introduction of digital technologies in education, digital university management. This is necessary in order to make our education, based on unique engineering traditions, as accessible and relevant as possible to the “numbers” that have finally come. All education will never become completely digital, especially with us – every Bauman must understand how to work with his hands, how to bring an idea to a product. But today’s student, who has not mastered a set of computer programs, cannot be considered professionally suitable. And we already do a lot to enter the new digital reality. Other achievements this year include the Moscow Government Young Scientists Award, which was presented to eleven of our young employees. 22 teachers became laureates of the All-Russian competition “Golden names of higher education.” The university has improved its position in the authoritative international QS ranking. We are the only technical university in Russia, one of the top 300 best universities in the world. We continue to actively work on the Arctic program. Let me remind you that, by direct instruction of the President, the University has become the basic scientific organization for fulfilling the tasks of the Interagency Integrated Targeted Program “Arctic Technologies”. The implementation of these tasks is carried out by the Arctic Programs Directorate of MSTU. N.E. Bauman. As part of this work, the University concluded an agreement on the creation of the Arctic REC with the Arkhangelsk Region and the Northern (Arctic) Federal University named after M.V. Lomonosov. This year, we can be proud of a breakthrough in quantum technology. MSTU developed the principle of creating superconducting qubits with a lifetime of 50 microseconds. The results are not inferior to the achievements of IBM, Google, Intel. In honor of the 60th anniversary of the Kaluga branch in Kaluga, a stone was laid at the base of the new MSTU campus. There were no such construction projects for 50 years! The university complex will become the core of the future zone of innovative development of the region. The construction of the Center for Integrated Robotics MSTU. N.E. Bauman. Completion is scheduled for the end of 2020. The center will include laboratories, test stands, the IT sector, telemedicine, and the engineering sector. This year, for the first time in Russia, the University hosted the international robotics championship RoboCup Asia Pacific. The MSTU student team in underwater robotics won first place in the Russian-Chinese competitions. And as always, the main attention, the main forces and means, we must turn to the benefit of students as the future engineering elite of Russia. They have to live in a new era, build a new country. Dear Colleagues! I wish all of us to be healthy, loved and happy in 2020. Happy New Year, beloved University!
Rector of MSTU. N.E. Bauman Anatoly Alexandrov
